Karen is responsible for risk management concerning lease obligations for Skyline Commercial REIT, Skyline Retail REIT, and commercial-related Skyline Apartment REIT properties. Karen assists with lease interpretation and preparation and reviews leases to identify and consider business implications, suggest amendments, and support in negotiation. Karen also assists with drafting documentation pertaining to property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing activity.
Before joining Skyline, Karen worked at a commercial real estate firm as a property manager. Through her five years of experience in property management and prior experience in franchise law, Karen gained a strong understanding of the fundamentals required for her current role. Karen graduated from King’s College at Western University and the Law Clerk program at Fanshawe College.
Karen takes a collaborative approach to her work and always provides a basis for her reasoning when suggesting amendments and edits to documents. This allows Karen to create greater productivity amongst her team and assists in communicating with stakeholders. In her role, she aims to help achieve the best commercial deal possible while ensuring all potential risks are mitigated.
